Sacred Deer Sightings

I live on the outskirts of town, and it amazes me how many deer I see here. I lived in the country for 5 years and didn't see half as many as I do now.

One night, my daughter and I happened upon a beautiful scene of at least 8 deer grazing in an empty lot across the street from a graveyard. One of them had just crossed the road, which is why I slowed down and was able to witness the event. It was a foggy night, so we were already driving pretty slow.

I felt as if we were being allowed to observe something sacred. I immediately began giving thanks to God that I was allowed to watch them gracefully grazing without a care in the world. The ones nearest the road turned and looked at us, but not even one of them ran away. We slowly drove on by, trying not to disturb them.

I have read that the deer is a good omen. A sign of grace, compassion, love and some say they are a sign of prosperity. I don't know about that, but I do know that every time I see them, I am awestruck by their beauty and whatever I was thinking about just leaves my mind.

I guess that's why I chose the name of DreamDoe. The deer make me dream of peace, grace, love and all that is wonderful in this life and beyond. They remind me of a better place that we will know in the future.

I am also reminded of how quickly things change and how abruptly life can end every time I pass a dead deer on the side of the road, which unfortunately, happens more often than a live sighting.

We must always remember to live in the moment, and not worry about things we cannot control. Worrying does not add one cent to the pocket, or one happy minute to the day.

A deer's senses are very acute and they see extremely well in low light, giving them the ability to understand the deeper symbolic meanings of things. They can hear a twig snap a very long way off. People with this power animal are often described as being swift and alert. They are intuitive, often seeming to possess well developed, even extrasensory perceptions. Sometimes their thoughts seem to race ahead, and they appear not to be listening, to be somewhere else. Anyone with power animal has latent clairvoyant and clairaudient abilities. They can see between the shadows, detect subtle movements and hear that which is not being uttered. Ask the deer to help you develop these true gifts.
